"There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it - and I won't take it away from her." (Luke 10:42 NLT)
My friend, Matt Burns, recently received this email from one of his aunts' mom, Wanda Rolf. Wanda, like Mary, has found the "one thing worth being concerned about", and wanted her children and grandchildren all to know. I thought you should know, too! Here's her note:
Over the past few years I’ve faced many trials; many health issues and the loss of my dear Jack. I totally surrendered my life and came to the point that I realized that if I had a personal, intimate relationship with the Savior that whatever problems I had to face that I wouldn’t have to face them alone. He is my TRUE companion, my strength, my friend and he has promised to never leave me or forsake me. This has meant so much because unlike many of my friends who are widows and suffer from loneliness and depression I haven’t had to deal with that.
I have a Promise Book that has all the promises in the Bible. If only I had the trust of Noah I would never have to be concerned about anything.
I am in the “Winter” of my life – I’m “Nearing Home” (Billy Graham) and I ask: How can I cope with my fears, struggles and growing limitations? How do I face the future with hope instead of despair? Psalm 71:18 “Now when I am old and gray headed, O God do not forsake me, until I declare your strength to this generation. Your power to everyone who is to come.” I want all my loved ones to have that personal relationship like I have. I want to live out my life so that all can see “Christ, only, always living in me.”
