Prince of Peace
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 NLT) One of my all time favorite verses about Jesus was prophesied about Him 700 years before He was born. He will be called the Prince of Peace. Several times during Jesus’ ministry, He would heal or forgive someone, then tell them “Go in peace”. The result of encountering Christ was then and is today, peace. The Presence of Christ brings unexplainable healing, wholeness and peace. On earth, Christ gave His peace. He said it to the woman caught in adultery, to the woman who poured perfume on His feet, to the woman who touched His robe and was healed. Before leaving His disciples, Jesus explained that He would leave them with His Peace (John 14:27).
This peace of Christ allows us to rest, to not be troubled or afraid. The Apostle Paul explains that because we have been made right with Christ through faith, we have the peace of God (Romans 5:1). My favorite thing about His Peace is that it is unexplainable, but undeniable. When we put our trust in Christ and His love for us, we are overwhelmed with His Peace. Have you ever experienced His Peace? You can, and it can be simply found by doing what we’re instructed to do in the verse below:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT)
