it's time...to pray

it's time...to pray

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country

Like yesterday, I remember taking typing at Murchison, with Ms. Amato. We typed this sentence at least a hundred times, or we were supposed to. I typed it enough to remember the sentence.

For those of you who grew up after the 80s, typing class was done on typewriters, not computers. We had no idea what a keyboard was.

When you made a mistake, it wasn’t underlined and you didn’t just delete and re-type. It was a huge deal. We had to be type over the correction with some weird white tape, and then type it again.

This sentence came from a quote by Patrick Henry. Charles Weller, a typing teacher modified the quote, so the sentence would fill up 1 complete line on a typewriter.

Today, our 45th President will be sworn in. I have no interest in making a political statement. Just this.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

My prayer is for our President, his family, advisers and for The LORD to grant him His wisdom. The same way I prayed for the 44th President, I will pray for the 45th.

My greater prayer is for The Church. May we continue to be a refuge to our country. If there are any places we are not; I pray for confession and change.

May The LORD shine through us, and may we be a place where the broken and hurting come to find the One True Helper.

May the confused, and scared teenage pregnant girl find trust and help within us, not judgment.

May the addicted, desperate man who faces losing his job and family find a friend in us and not a cold shoulder.

May all who come to the end of their rope find safe refuge in us.

I pray our country sees The Church as a great example of how to love one another. It is the desire welling up within each one of us. May The Lord help us live lives worthy of our calling, and may He get glory in our country and in our lives.

Let’s come to the aid of our country, one gracious gesture at a time. No matter how small the good deed, let’s be found doing it, and trust our Father with results.

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-3
