Call to Action

"No, O people, the Lord  has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8 NLT) For the last couple of days, I have listened to Passion 2013 on their live streaming website and have been blown away.  60,000 students who want to spend their winter break praising Jesus, learning more about Him and His Word have been really encouraging to see.  The lineup of speakers and their messages have been great, too.  However, when I listened to a round table discussion yesterday, focused on ending slavery in our world, I was blown away.  Seated around the table were the Passion ministry's partners who are giving their lives to increasing the awareness of slavery, ending slavery and restoring victims all over the world.

They shared that there are 27,000,000 people in our present day world being oppressed by slavery.  That’s twenty-seven million!!  With all we know, how quickly we can travel and communicate, I am blown away that oppression can have that big of a strangle-hold in our world.

I feel compelled to ask you to do a couple of things:

1)     PRAY!!!  Prayer isn't a back-up plan.  It’s the plan.  Somehow, it engages God in the heavenly realms and things happen.  People move, mountains of oppression move, angels are dispatched...things happen!

"I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 1:19, 20 NLT)

We have the same power in us.  Verse 3 of Ephesians 1 tells us that we have every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.  We will battle evil or we will do nothing and allow evil to prevail.  Micah 6:8 tells us what to do - take action!

2)     Please put this hotline into your phone, right now!  This number is a national hotline, provided by the Polaris Project (Washington D. C. Non-profit focused on ending labor and sex trafficking in our country).  If you see anything you would regard as suspicious, please call is number:

For confidential help & Info 24/7

If you think anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.

We are the Church.  Shawn Weekly's message last week about being the Light and not letting those suffering within the shadow of our steeples continue to suffer was haunting for me.  So, please put this number in your phone, go to this website ( and begin informing yourself with things to look for in human trafficking and start praying!

Let’s pray for the victims, those trafficked, their families, those involved in this industry, the criminals and for His justice.  Let’s pray for our involvement and how God would have us not only be aware, but involved.  Are we going to have to learn more?  Yes.  Will it require more from us?  Yes, again.  But, we are the Church, equipped with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ and we have been called to be light in the darkness.  Come on - let's Shine!
